This is a series of articles, where we will look at verses in the Quran and how it relates to understanding our current world and getting closer to the truth. Every verse in the Quran is a sign back to its monotheistic God; who revealed these as a mercy to its creation; now it's upon us if we want to reap its benefit or deny it before understanding out of arrogance.

Quran 41:53) We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness?

Man internally has a quest to know the truth; that is one of the main reasons driving the creative urge in humans to manipulate the world around them to put it to better use.

Initially, that push drove the golden age of Islam with new findings and theories and when they lost the zeal Europeans picked it up, and in the last decades we have seen an explosion of theories and new explanations of how things work.

Religion is not against human creativity and exploiting the world to improve human life, and the Muslim golden age is proof of that, they do not have any dichotomy while living a life of faith and reason.

The Dark Ages or Middle Ages created a scenario where rationality and religion went into a battle and the split happened; which can mainly be attributed to the wrong interpretation of Jesus' message and human weakness to controlling people using religion led to massive movement away from religion.

Scientists and Thinkers, over time, have come up with these ideas, that they can look at the matter to determine its essence and explain the workings of the world around them; and they do not need to believe in outdated ideas ( of religion) to come up with an explanation.

With time we came up with novel ways to exploit this world to our use, but over time we have lost the art of balancing, and neo-liberalism and post-modern ideas have taken hold of our thinking.

Now everything about progress is driven by Techno-Feudual capitalists so they can use that to gain wealth and keep the masses busy in a consumer frenzy society; or come up with a better weapon technology to sell to a nation-state.

Where is the love of knowledge in all this progress? or to improve the human condition; to feed or provide homes to the poor or to keep peace and leave a world in a better shape.

At this point a bit of doom and gloom has surrounded us, we have found ourselves in a tangle where progress is not helping, and extracting more energy from this deteriorating planet will be catastrophic to the environment around us. We do not find the happiness and peace we all desire, life has become stressful and devoid of meaning; entertainment and dopamine, are not able to keep up with the despair and we end up dosing ourselves in consuming substances to bring sanity to this falling world.

Please step away from this madness, look in the mirror, and think if you care; what is going to provide normalcy to this conflict-ridden world; how we are going to bring equality, justice, and balance to our lives, families, communities, and societies?

Is it not time to come up with a definition of progress; that can move us toward the truth, which is in harmony with nature and our real selves?
