one thing that i found most of today non believer raised that how could a merciful god let all these calamities befall on people hence we conclude he is not all powerful ; i think problem is with our time today as we have evolved into more invention and understanding of physical nature of the universe we are able to explain most of the phenomenon but still we cannot control them and for things we cannot explain or control we look for a higher being.

Lets say to God most important thing that he wants for human is salvation after life and this temporary life is a mere test and to get pass this test he has provided you with abilities ( consciousness and soul) and guidance . and he has made himself available to whoever wants to reach him, trials and tabulations are there to remind us or disconnect us so we can focus on the goal at hand rather than following our animal instincts. Now does it make more sense in the grand scheme of things
