hmm not sure why we could not raise same question we raise for other divine intervention ..

"We can choose to believe instead that the Bible — being written by humans — was shaped by the culture, the theological assumptions, and the time in which the biblical authors lived; That is to say, the biblical authors were representing what they believed about God rather than what God actually inspired them to say."?

In my understanding, Jesus is coming back because he did not completed his life span and was raised before it got completed ( and possibly some one who was made to look like him was cruxified)

“and for their saying, “We have certainly killed the MasīH ‘Īsā the son of Maryam, the Messenger of Allah”, while in fact they did neither kill him, nor crucify him, but they were deluded by resemblance. Those who disputed in this matter are certainly in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it, but they follow whims. It is absolutely certain that they did not kill him,” ( 4/157)

So he is coming to complete his life and be the Messiah, Jews wanted him to be ( but were impatient and tried to crucifix him instead) and he will rule Justly ( and there will be mutual respect between Christianity and Islam and monotheism) while his stay on earth ( hunch, most probably Raptured Christians will be disappointed and most probably will fight him)
